QME Provider (California)

Postby michaelr123 on Thu Sep 21, 2017 3:05 pm

My Doc is just staring out doing QMEs in the San Diego area. I was wondering what is a good marketing tip so that we can get her name out in the field?

Thanks

Good reports - and endorsements from the clients who received them.

People want to see well written objective reporting based on the evidence on both sides. They want an endorsement from a party in the case to assure they did not have to go through countless cross-exs, send numerous interogs for issues that should have been addressed at the get go when the medical reporting was received.

And yes, cookies - all work comp offices run on their bellies - so even fruit or something sustaining is appreciated.

A darn good (30 - 40 minute) short seminar by the physician as to his/her specialty marketed with lunch works with some defense and applicant firms, you can get the attorneys in a room with the doctor, the attorneys can then feel out the doc.

45-60 min seminars + bagels, cream cheese, and coffee, good reports which a WCJ will find substantial evidence, a professional/polite staff, and timely reporting.

I agree with most of the above. Volunteer to give training to law offices, insurance companies, etc. That can get the Doctor's foot in the door and often the lawyer or IC will "give the Dr. a try". But all the marketing in the world will not get a regular following. That requires report writing that is balanced and addressed the necessary issues.

Marketing is iffy. It takes time and dedication. Writing good reports and developing a reputation for having a solid well-thought opinion is the best way but it takes time.

When we say write good, balanced opinions, that does not mean writing long, verbose, philosophical opinions that try too hard to make both parties happy. That is the best way to turn everyone off and increases the chances of further litigation. Have a solid take based in medicine, not politics or marketing.
