On December 17th, 2010 Landmark Medical Mgmt., Physicians Funding Solutions and RX Funding Solutions participated in a generous offer by Judge Jorga Frank, presiding Judge and the Los Angeles Office of the WCAB, to allow use of the court facilities for a series of Voluntary Settlement Conferences in order to reduce the number of active compound pharmacy liens pending at the Los Angeles office.
The turnout was solid and many insurers, defense attorneys and hearing representatives took part in the conferences The event took place in four courtrooms supplied by Judge Frank for the purpose of allowing the parties to have a central place to discuss settlements. The event was well organized and successful . All together it is estimated that over 300 liens were successfully settled as a result of this process. Many other providers that did not participate were asking if the court was going to allow this to happen again in the future. In addition many discussions began to resolve more liens both at the Los Angeles WCAB and other Boards as the parties set guidelines and procedures for bulk lien settlement resolutions. Many of the insurers that did not participate have already begun a bulk settlement process so their participation was not needed.
