Official Medical Fee Schedule (California)

The State of Ca Legislative Bill Room has an ordering form for the Official Medical Fee Schedule wherein one can fill out the form, pay a fee and obtain the OMFS from Sacramento.

Does anyone know if this is basically the hard copy of what is already on the DIR website? Thanks.

Do any defense attorneys here feel this is useful or helpful in anyway in dealing with lien claimants? Thanks.

You should purchase the 1999 OMFS because it contains the ground rules for paying for physician services. Upon receipt, augment it with the online modifications effective 07/12/2002. Although you can find payment rates online, you'll need the ground rules if you want to defend liens properly. For instance, the tiered-reimbursement formula for physical medicine is in the 1999 OMFS and I don't believe it's posted on the DIR website (someone will surely tell us if I'm wrong).

On a separate note, the medical-legal fee schedule is in Regs. 9793 - 9795. They are relatively simple, and there is no excuse for any defense attorney, judge, medical provider or lien representative not to memorize them.
