Nurse Practitioners in lieu of an MD (California) (Californi

Postby MPNAdvantageSD on Mon Mar 18, 2019 10:24 am

Can a nurse practitioner see a new patient in lieu of an MD or DO for the initial visit? If so, can that evaluation be billed? Also, if the NP can see the patient does the patient then have to been by an MD within a particular time frame? I believe that PAs can see new patients when the designated provider is unavailable; however, the patient must then see the provider within 3 days. Is that right? Are there other limitations to the NP seeing patients?
