Emergency Room Doctor lien and Statute Lims (California)

Postby lacompfun on Fri May 24, 2019 1:37 pm

Scenario:

1. Applicant goes to emergency room and gets treatment. The Doctor is contract provider. So not EE of the hospital.

Question:

1. Does the independent contractor have to timely pay filing fee for lien?

Notes:

1. Likely hospital does not have to pay fee. But this provider does not work for hospital directly.

No physicians work for the hospital in an ER. They are all contract physicians.

Send the bill to bill review and pay it, if you can confirm the ER visit was related to the industrial condition.

If you are disputing the bill, yes the contract physician needs to pay the lien filing fee. Each different tax ID number requires a separate lien and a separate filing fee.
