2010 Mileage rate drops to $0.50/mile (California)

I just saw a blurb in the newspaper the Federal IRS business travel rate is dropping for 2010 to $0.50/mile. This will also drop California's w/c mileage rate per DWCNewsline 86-07 from the current $0.55.

I did hear that the mileage rate was changing for 2010, but the memo you posted pertains to mileage for 2008, not 2010.

The rates are correct for 2010, but the memo posted is from 2007. IRS is dropping the mileage rate to .50cents per mile for travel after 1/1/2010.

The link I cited was to the first DWCNewsline noting mileage was now tied to the business rate for travel per the IRS. It cited codes and regs per Calif. law that remain the same. Thus, since the IRS rate is changing for 2010 to 50 cents/mile and since the Calif. rate is tied to it, our rate will also change.

I expect we'll also see a new DWCNewsline in a few days.

DWC just issued a "Newsline" a few minutes ago confirming what Stew said - that the new mileage rate starting 1/1/09 will be fifty cents per mile.
