Robert R. Sherman, Senior Administrative Partner of the Law Firm Mullen & Filippi, LLP, is saddened to announce that on Friday July 3rd, Steven D. McKeen, a long-term senior associate in the Stockton office, passed away after an all too brief battle with cancer.

Mr. McKeen received his B.A. from California State University in Sacramento in 1981, his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1988, with recognition by the Traynor Honor Society. He was admitted to the practice of law by the California State Bar and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California, in the same year.

He practiced Workers’ Compensation Insurance Defense from 1988-2009. Joining Mullen & Filippi, LLP in June of 2000, he appeared primarily at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards in Stockton and Sacramento. Mr. McKeen had a well deserved reputation for providing his clients with the very highest level of legal representation and was extremely well liked and respected by Judges, co-workers, Applicant and Defense Attorneys along with all others he came into contact with in the Northern California Workers’ Compensation community.

He is survived by his wife Liza, a long-standing claims professional in Workers’ Compensation. A Memorial Service has been scheduled for Friday July 10th at 1 p.m. at St. John Vianney Church located at 10497 Coloma Road in Rancho Cordova, Ca. with a reception to follow in the church annex.
